Privacy Policy

Effective 17 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information BantabaMarkets (“we”, “us”) collects when you use our platform, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have over it. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: your full name, email address, and, where you provide it, phone number.
  • Identity verification (KYC): date of birth (to confirm you are 18 or older), and where required for regulated real-money operations, identity documents and related verification data.
  • Financial and transaction data: wallet balances, deposits, withdrawals, stakes, payouts, and transaction history.
  • Usage and device data: pages and markets you view, actions you take on the platform, IP address, browser and device type, and similar technical data, collected through our analytics provider.
  • Cookies: small pieces of data stored in your browser; see Section 8 below.
  • Communications: anything you send us through the Contact page or by email, including your name, email, and message content.

2. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • create and operate your account and wallet;
  • verify your age and identity, and comply with anti-money-laundering obligations;
  • process deposits and withdrawals through our payment partners;
  • resolve markets, calculate settlements, and record the resulting ledger entries;
  • detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and prohibited conduct;
  • respond to your questions and support requests;
  • understand aggregate usage of the platform so we can improve it (we use this data in aggregate wherever possible, not to build an individual profile of you for advertising purposes); and
  • comply with legal and regulatory obligations that apply to us.

3. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable data protection law requires a stated legal basis, we rely on:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the account, wallet, and market features you sign up for;
  • Legal obligation: for identity verification, AML/KYC checks, and record-keeping;
  • Legitimate interests: for fraud prevention, platform security, and product improvement, balanced against your rights; and
  • Consent: where we ask for it separately, such as for optional communications.

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary to run the platform, with the following categories of recipients:

  • Payment partners (for example, our mobile money payment processor): to process deposits and withdrawals you initiate;
  • Our licensed operator partner: as required for regulated gaming operations under our Regulatory Disclosure;
  • Infrastructure and hosting providers: who host our application, database, authentication, and file storage systems, acting as our data processors under contract;
  • Analytics providers: to understand aggregate product usage;
  • Regulators and law enforcement: where required by law, court order, or to investigate suspected fraud, money laundering, or other unlawful activity; and
  • Professional advisers: such as auditors or legal counsel, bound by confidentiality obligations.

Every processor we use is contractually required to protect your data and to use it only for the purposes we specify.

5. Data retention

We keep account and transaction data for as long as your account is active, and for a period after closure as required to meet legal, tax, and anti-money-laundering record-keeping obligations, typically several years, depending on the type of record and applicable law. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry, plus a reasonable period for our records.

6. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, access controls limiting who on our team can see personal data, and restricting access to what each role actually needs. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

7. International data transfers

Some of our infrastructure and service providers operate outside The Gambia. Where your data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it continues to be protected consistently with this Policy, including relying on providers with appropriate security and contractual safeguards in place.

8. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: to keep you signed in and remember your session;
  • Preference cookies: such as your chosen display language (English, French, or Portuguese); and
  • Analytics cookies: to help us understand how the platform is used, in aggregate.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may prevent you from staying signed in.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of your information, subject to our legal obligation to retain certain financial and identity-verification records for a set period;
  • object to certain processing, such as use of your data for product analytics;
  • request a portable copy of information you provided to us; and
  • withdraw consent for any processing that relies on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@bantabamarkets.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request.

10. Children's privacy

BantabaMarkets is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date, and where a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you directly.
